Why I Built this Website

A note on my inspiration.

Today, I was inspired to rebuild my personal website. I discovered Astro, the JS framework that is centered around content, not complex JS components. I am still in the initial discovery stage.

The main design inspiration came from my love of cursive script. I wanted my website to have an intimate feel, as there are millions of polished Tailwind, MUI, etc. websites out there—we did not need another clone.

Though simple, this page already has over 500 lines of CSS. I leaned heavily into Codex to write the CSS. I am not proud of that fact, but it shows what a double-edged sword AI truly is. At the onset of starting this page, I knew I would need to rely heavily on AI to assist me in CSS. As a self-proclaimed backend SDE, my frontend skills have always been a weak link.

In so embarking on this new project, I strive to improve my frontend skills in a pressure-free environment.

I don’t know yet what direction I want this website to go, but I look forward to the process of developing this page to become something of which I can be proud.
